Inspired by her desire to give and her passion to create beauty, Laurel Burch’s art is embraced by collectors and kindred spirits throughout the world. Transcending cultures and crossing boundaries of age and race, Laurel’s art reflects a love for life! Leaving home at 14, with little more than a paper bag of clothes and a rare bone disease, Laurel struggled to make ends meet. At 19, with long hair, skirt to her ankles, and a baby on her back, she moved North to the Golden Gates of San Francisco, looking for a new beginning. Laurel’s artistic spirit emerged as she began to make jewelry for herself and her friends. Gathering old coins, bones and beads, she hammered metal on the back of her kitchen skillet. Then her creations became beautiful adornments. Laurel was known for her generosity, and as she both gave and sold her jewelry on the streets of San Francisco, it found its way into the hands of people across the country. Thus, the phenomenon of collecting Laurel Burch jewelry began. From the Haight-Ashbury era to today, Laurel’s jewelry continues to inspire many. This new line of Laurel Burch jewelry marks the return of her art in a way that captures the romance and delight of the past with the trends of today. These wonderful pieces represent the essence of Laurel and her art while connecting to the human spirit.
