Yup...same high quality and in fact you can still play along with any kind of music that uses scraped or shaken instruments from different parts of the world. This means that you can accompany Zydeco music (rub board), Latin American music (guiro), Jug Band or Old Timey music (wash board), African music (shekere), Irish music (bones) and you can even sound like a field of crickets! So experiment, have fun and continue to amaze your friends!
The True Story of the Washboard Tie or How my Daddy had to get hisself dressed up proper-like fer his own weddin' day.
Ever since my Daddy was a little boy, he loved to play the washboard. Whenever his mamma wasn't cleanin' clothes, that boy was a scritchin' and scratchin' on it with a pair of sewin' thimbles. He'd play along with the banjo's and the ladies singin' on the radio. He'd even play with the dogs howlin' and with the racket of the ole tractor.
He hung it from his neck with a string and took to wearin' it all the time...then his mamma had to git herself a new one.
The years went by, and as Daddy growed into a young man his eyes took to wanderin' until they lit on Sally, the girl from across the holler...but she wasn't no girl no more...she was purty!
Well, they took to takin' walks every day, him with that ole washboard around his neck...but Sally only had eyes for him. After plenty of courtin' and sparkin' Daddy asked her to git hitched. "I loves you too!" answered Sally, "but you got to git dressed proper like fer the weddin' day".
Of course Daddy wanted to please Sally, but it kept a naggin' at him that when he would put on his weddin' clothes, that washboard would fer sure cover up his tie...HIS TIE! "That's it!" he shouted.
He ran down to the tool shed and got hisself a pair of metal clippers and took to cuttin' on that washboard, real careful like. All through the night, he was a cuttin' and polishin'.
Come the weddin' day, everyone was gathered when up sasheys Daddy, all dressed up, wearin a shiny tie made from his ole washboard. Sally's heart melted for sure, and when she saw the look on Daddy's face all she could say was "Of course I do".
Well, as you kin imagine, Daddy danced and played at his own weddin', and the likes a that party ain't never been seen since...and thats the truth.
